About
The History
This temple was consecrated on 7th June 1978 (07-06-1978) in the Tantric procedure, by the Thanthiri of Sabarimalai, Chengannur “Thazhamon Madom” Brahmashri Neelakantaru Thanthiri. It is noteworthy that the procedures and rituals followed in this temple are the same as what is followed in Sabarimalai.
The Mahakumbhabhishegham after Renovation
On Friday, the 11th of April 2025, the Punar-Uddhaarana Ashtabandhana Maha Kumbhabhishegham was performed to Lord Sri Ayyappan by the Golden Hands of "Thazhamon Madom" Brahmashri Mahesh Thanthiri, the hereditary priests of Sabarimalai. It is of significance that Brahmashri Mohanaru Thanthiri of Chengannur "Thazhamon Madom" is indeed the Thanthiri for our Madipakkam Sri Ayyappan Temple as well.
